The mission of the Newburyport Education Foundation is to generate financial resources and community involvement to enhance education in the Newburyport Public Schools. Founded by a group of community members looking to bridge the gap between available public financing and the aspirations of the district, the NEF has donated in excess of four million dollars to the city’s public school system.

The NEF is instrumental in helping us build a vibrant, modern and engaging educational system. Investments in programs like the Waterfront Arts and Music Festival, the Investment Club and the Sailbot Competition allow us to celebrate creativity and promote student innovation. Grant programs support teacher innovation projects like Poetry Soup, Shakespeare Residency Program, and the Borrow-a-Robot Project. Annual gifts allow us to bring our Reimagine vision to life, providing resources for the Jacalyn Bennett Wellness Spaces, summer reading programs, comprehensive literacy resources, theater space upgrades, and so many more. Thanks to the NEF, Newburyport's public schools are thriving!
