February 15, 2018 – Earthquake in East Kingston, NH

April 2 & 3, 2016 – Earthquakes in Vanuatu and Alaska

vanuatu_quakeThe first weekend in April, 2016 was a “seismically busy” one around the world. The Nock seismograph detected a quake on April 2nd about 971 miles from Anchorage, Alaska; and then a second quake on April 3rd along the eastern margin of the Australia plate.  Read the PDF for more details.

January, 2016 – Seismograph Detects Earthquake in Mexico

mexico_quakeNock faculty member Lisa Alexander had a very exciting last period of school on January 21st, 2016. Her phone alerted her to an earthquake in Mexico. We she went to check the seismograph, she watched it record the 6.6 Earthquake just minutes later as the “S” and “P” waves arrived in Newburyport. The seismograph reading was then shared world wide by the Weston Observatory. Read the PDF for more details.
