The Lighthouse Auction is the NEF’s largest fundraiser of the year and a social favorite of many.
“This has turned into a fantastic and relevant night on the town where the faculty, parents and businesses come together to make things happen for our schools,” shared Dorene Olsen, of the 2015 NEF Auction planning committee.
With the help of more than one hundred volunteers and hundreds of donors and sponsors, the 2015 Auction raised more than $100,000! The proceeds will go to support the NEF’s three current campaigns:
- adding additional technology and seating to complete the renovation of Nock-Molin Library & Media Center,
- making upgrades to the lighting and sound technology at the High School Auditorium, and
- deploying additional ‘STEM & The Arts’ initiatives across the district.
“The community is incredibly generous in support of this event,” said Rosemary Turgeon, the NEF volunteer coordinating the 2015 donations. “All of items for the auction have been given to us by businesses, families, students, teachers and staff. The winning bids for these donations will translate into much needed funds for Newburyport Public Schools.”
Over 300 people attended the event at Nicholson Hall on November 14th to enjoy food donated by some of the finest restaurants in the city while bidding on a terrific variety of donated items. Many others who couldn’t attend were able to participate by bidding on-line prior to the event.
And, once again this year we were blessed to have Rob Ouelette, owner of Amesbury Skate & Sports, serve as our auctioneer — keeping the crowd entertained while getting the most donated for each item.
