The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors made up of members of the community working in concert with, but independent of, the Newburyport Public Schools. The Board of
Directors is accountable for designating how the funds are to be used. The
Foundation’s Board of Directors has endorsed a new 2008-2010 campaign.
There are three main areas of focus: 1) expand course opportunities at the
high school through membership in the Virtual High School, 2) build
literacy closets to enhance resources for the new literacy program for
grades K-8, 3) continue to add and renew technology, starting with
enhancements to the visual digital arts lab, new laptops for the high
school science labs, assessment technology equipment for high school and
middle school science and math classes, and general technology upgrades as
